Tryouts will be for team placement for the RMSC 2025 - 2026 Season beginning in September. 

Tryout Dates:

Monday, June 23, 2025 (KSAC ONLY) - held at the Silver Spring Recreation & Aquatic Center

Monday, July 14, 2024 (GISC & MLK)

Tuesday, July 15, 2025 (Olney)

Tuesday, July 22, 2025 (ALL Sites, times vary)

Due to program and group limitations, some groups may not have space available. If this occurs a waiting list, based on those who attended tryouts, and met the minimum qualifications, would be placed on a waiting list.  You would be contacted when a space becomes available by the RMSC Site Supervisor.

Results for tryouts will be emailed after both tryout dates have occurred. All participants who attended either tryout date will receive an email no later than Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications

The following criteria are used as the minimum qualifications to attend tryouts. These are used to determine possible group placement; age, technique and endurance. Listed below are the minimum qualifications for each age group.

8 & Unders - at a minimum, must swim both a continuous full length of freestyle, using good rhythmic breathing. As well as a continuous full length of backstroke.

9-10yr olds - at a minimum, must swim two consecutive lengths of freestyle, using good rhythmic breathing. In addition, swim one continuous length of legal backstroke, plus working knowledge of breaststroke and butterfly.

11-12yr olds - at a minimum, must swim two consecutive legal lengths of the pool in 3 of the 4 competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly). In addition, swimmers need working knowledge of the 4th competitive stroke.

13-18yr olds - at a minimum, swim two consecutive legal lengths of the pool in all 4 competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly). Swimmers should have summer swim team or high school competitive experience.

Tryout Information


*Attend the tryout based on your age as of December 5, 2025
*Pre-registration is REQUIRED, information below.
*Swimmers may only attend one day of tryouts at each location.
*Swimmers must tryout at the site you wish to practice at.
*A placement offer from one site is not transferrable to another site.
*All tryouts begin ontime. Late arrivals may not be allowed to participate.
*Swimmers must stay for entire tryout. Tryouts can last 45-60 minutes.
*A Parent or Legal Guardian must remain on-site at all times.
*Please arrive a few minutes early to check-in.

USA Swimming Club Transfers

Most swimmers interested in transferring clubs will need to attend a tryout. However, you can contact the Site Supervisor (emails listed on site practice page) with your swimmers name and a copy of their current SCY and LCM top times.

Register for tryouts based on the swimmers age as of December 5, 2025.

KSAC Site ONLY - June 23 Tryout: Pre-registration is OPEN NOW and CLOSES June 22.

Monday, July 14 Tryout at GISC & MLK: Pre-registration OPENS June 30 and CLOSES July 12.

Tuesday, July 15 Tryout at Olney: Pre-registration OPENS June 30 and CLOSES July 12.

Tuesday, July 22 Tryout held at ALL 4 SITES: Pre-registration OPENS July 8 and CLOSES July 20.

Please select the 9-digit course code that corresponds with the desired practice location and age group.

Only sign up for one day of tryouts for each location.

Walk-ins, on the day of tryouts, will not be accepted.
