20 RMSC swimmers and four coaches traveled to Buffalo, NY to compete at the Eastern Zone Long course Senior Championships. RMSC finished 12th combined out of approximately 60 clubs from all over the Eastern Zone (Maine to Virginia), with the girls finishing 8th. The top 32 swimmers in each events made it back to finals, while the top 16 swimmers in each event scored for the team.
Rachel Soubier was our leading scorer with 64 points, as she had top 8 finishes in 200, 400, 800, and 1500 free, and 400 IM. Nia Bowrin was top 8 in 50 free and top 16 in 100 free. Kiera Ceely and Quintin Cheadle were each top 16 in 800 and 1500 free, while Sean Davis was top 16 in 400 IM. Also finishing in the top 32 in individual events were: Kasey Anderson, Jason Doan, Emma Dorsey, Sophie Elliott, Malec Fahmy, Gabriel Fouts, Josh Hernandez, Andrew Loayza, Kylie Morissette, Sophie Sanchez, Katy Wade, and Daniel Wang.
Our team’s highest finish came in the girls’ 800 free relay, where Bowrin, Anderson, Ceely, and Soubier broke the RMSC 15-16 team record with an 8:52.10, finishing 4th. Bowrin, Anderson, Maeve Campbell, and Soubier finished top 8 in the 200 free relay, while Bowrin, Anderson, Sanchez, and Soubier finished top 8 in the 400 free relay. In addition, all four boys’ A relays finished in the top 16, with relays including: Fouts, Hernandez, Diego Morales, Nick Santorelli, and Wang.
