Different year, same result! RMSC won the team combined competition at Age Group NCSA’s on March 25-28 in Orlando, winning back-to-back team titles in 2025 and 2026! It was a tight competition the entire duration of the meet with several teams, but RMSC pulled ahead on the last night of competition to bring home the title. Unusually, both RMSC’s boys and girls finished runner-up in their respective gender categories. While we are proud of our 2nd place finish in both genders, it was a the true team effort that led to the combined team victory!
A number of individuals contributed a significant amount to our team victory. Sara Young (70), Selim Ericson (69), Amelia Alsina (59), Jason Xu (45), Zander Pica (42), Mara Ahearn (31), Julia Carrick (29), Eva Garcia (24), Jacob Gash (22), Salem Shah (21), Annabel Robey (20), Zuri Wilson (17), Juli Diaz (17) Brian Sunjaya (15) and Michael Smugeresky (15) all made finals in multiple individual events and scored at least 15 points for the team. As well, Amelia Alsina set a new meet record in the 11-12 girls 200 free with a time of 1:54.25. Meanwhile, Selim Ericson set a new meet record in the 13-14 boys 100 fly with a time of 48.45.
RMSC also broke a number of Team Records and PVS Records! Selim Ericson broke RMSC team records in 13-14 Boys 50 Breast (26.36), 13-14 Boys 50 Fly (22.30) and 13-14 Boys 100 Fly (48.45). ALL THREE swims were also PVS RECORDS! Zander Pica, Brian Sunjaya, Selim Ericson and Tripp Thomas broke the RMSC team record in the 200 Medley Relay (1:36.40). And our 13-14 Girls swam truly outstanding in their relays breaking THREE RMSC team records! Congrats to Mara Ahearn, Zuri Wilson, Annabel Robey and Sara Young for breaking our 400 Free Relay Team Record (3:28.82). Juli Diaz, Elena Lindley, Sara Young and Zuri Wilson bested our 200 Medley Relay Team Record (1:46.39). Finally, Lexi Johnson, Annabel Robey, Sara Young and Mara Ahearn broke our Team Record in the 400 Medley Relay (3:51.43). It goes without saying that ALL of our relays played a huge role in the team victory.
