RMSC Wins Combined and Boys Titles at Eastern Zone Sectionals!

A team of 48 RMSC swimmers travelled to St. Mary’s College in Southern Maryland to compete in the Eastern Zone South Region Sectionals, held March 25-28.  The meet featured almost 60 teams from all over the Eastern Zone (Maine through Virginia).   RMSC took the Boys and Combined Team titles, finishing ahead of rival NCAP in both, while our Girls finished 7th.   We had many outstanding individual and relay performances which contributed to the victory.   We had several swimmers who medaled by finishing in the top 8, scored for the team by placing in the top 16, and more who qualified for finals by placing in the top 24 in their events.

Maximus Devinney was our team's leading scorer at the meet with 77 points.  He finished 1st in 200 IM (1:48.87), 2nd in 100 fly (48.85), and top 8 in 50 free, 500 free, and 100 breast.  Daniel Mulla was 3rd in 100 free (45.86), top 8 in 50 fly and 100 fly, top 16 in 200 free, and top 24 in 50 free.  Annie Tansey was the girls' leading scorer with 39 points.  She was top 8 in 500 free and 1000 free, and top 16 in 50 breast, 100 breast, and 200 IM.  Kevin Lee was top 8 in 200 back, and top 16 in 500 free, 1650 free, 50 back, and 100 back.  Lucas Kim finished top 8 in 1000 free and 200 fly, and top 16 in 500 free.  Mia Fecko was top 8 in 1650 free, top 16 in 1000 free, and top 24 in 500 free.  Dante Long was top 16 in 1000 free and 1650 free, and top 24 in 500 free.  Jack Gravell was top 16 in 200 back, and top 24 in 500 free, 50 back, 200 IM, and 400 IM.  Michael Kueh was top 16 in 200 fly and top 24 in 100 fly.  James Lawrence was top 16 in 200 free and top 24 in 200 back.  Jeremiah Germosen was top 16 in 50 free and 50 fly, and top 24 in 100 free.  Taisiya Ivanovskaya was top 16 in 1650 free, and top 24 in 500 free and 1000 free.  Elle Floyd finished top 16 in 1650 free and top 24 in 1000 free.  Maeve Cutter was top 16 in 1000 free, and top 24 in 500 free and 200 IM.  Sean Anderson was top 16 in 50 fly and top 24 in 100 fly.  Other swimmers that made a final by finishing top 24 included: Allen Bui, Elizabeth Chen, Jay Cole Devinney, Erik Dolezel, Shou Iimi, Maddie LaMotteo, Reyna Li, Sienna Magro, Gracie Schur, and Brandon Tian.

Much of our team scoring came in relays, where RMSC swam particularly well. In fact, most of our Girls and Boys A and B relays scored by placing in the top 16.  Our Boys 400 free relay (Devinney, Mulla, Kueh, Germosen) and 800 free relay (Devinney, Mulla, Lawrence, Lee) each took 1st place, our Boys 200 free relay (Devinney, Germosen, Mulla, Bui) took 2nd, our Boys 200 medley relay (Lee, Devinney, Mulla, Germosen) took 3rd, and the Boys 400 medley relay (Lee, Devinney, Anderson, Mulla) took 4th.  The Girls’ highest finish was a 4th in the 800 free relay (Schur, Cutter, Ivanovskaya, Tansey).   Others who contributed to top 16 scoring relays included: Elizabeth Chen, Lillian Congdon, Jay Cole Devinney, Mia Fecko, Jack Gravell, Samantha Hennelly, Ethan Hua, Iliza Huang, Ari Katz, Lucas Kim, Marcos Mastronikolas, Meera Patel, and Molly Sanford.

Congratulations to the 2026 Sectional Team, and we’ll enjoy the Championship plaques to commemorate the victory (pictured)!
